WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID
AND HOW DOES IT WORK
⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔
HYALURONIC ACID IS A BIOLOGICAL TRANSPORT MOLECULE THAT DELIVERS MOISTURE AND PEPTIDES DEEP INTO THE SKIN
⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔
Synopsys:
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a natural biological delivery mechanism that will deliver anything it can absorb during manufacture deep into the dermis layer of your skin. In this serums case the payload is purified, filtered, pH adjusted water.
Details:
Hyaluronic acid, is scientifically known as Sodium Hyaluronate or hyaluronan. It is a visco-elastic molecule meaning that it can stretch to absorb and hold 1,000 times its weight in fluid (usually pH adjusted, ionized, filtered, purified water, but it may also be used to transport other nourishing and/or healing serums deep into the dermis layer of the skin).
It is in essence a biological balloon that can increase 1,000 times its size with any liquid surrounding it. Hyaluronic Acid is most prevalent in our skin, eyes and cartilage with our skin containing 50% of all Hyaluronic Acid in our body. As we age our bodies produce less and less of this molecule and our natural skin hydration begins to suffer.
Think of hyaluronic acid like little micro biological water bottles for quenching your skins thirst.
NON-TOXIC and NON-IMMUNOGENIC
By its self hyaluronic acid is nontoxic and nonimmunogenic (does not cause an immune response or reaction in mammals).
As a naturally occurring molecule in the skin, it is necessary component of healthy skin and is therefore desired by and absorbed very quickly by the skin upon contact. There the HA molecule transfers (or feeds if you will) it’s stored payload directly to the skin cells and connecting tissues it comes in contact with. It fills the spaces between the connective fibers of collagen and elastin with moisture. Because it is a naturally occurring molecule in the skin, it is absorbed very quickly.
Hyaluronic Acid is available in different formats: For topical cosmetics, lotions, gels and serums, it is available in FDA approved non-prescription amounts of less than 2.5% concentration with most dermatologists preferring their patients to use no greater than 2%.
It is also available by prescription in Injectable formats from doctors, hospitals and pharmacies.
Why do I need Hyaluronic Acid Facial Serum?
Hyaluronic Acid is an extreme hydrating molecule that is known to replace moisture in the skin. Loss of moisture from air, toxins, free radical damage, sun exposure, age and more all result in thinning, sagging, worn out, dry and wrinkling skin. Wrinkles begin to appear from the loss of three important components of the skin; Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and Elastin. As your skin loses its hyaluronic acid production, it’s natural youthful hydration decreases and the collagen and elastin begin to dry out. With this drying, the firmness and elasticity of the skin begin to suffer compounding day after day, month after month and year after year. The inevitable result is wrinkling, weathered, sagging, thinning, aging, ugly skin.
When applied topically Hyaluronic Acid can also treat burns. bed sores, wounds, skin ulcers and other tissue damage.
? Topically applied, Hyaluronic Acid’s water storing properties make it an ideal swelling agent and deep skin tissue lubricant, enabling its incorporation into cosmetics leading to a perceptible and visible improvement of skin condition.
In use, it forms a thin transparent visco-elastic surface film that helps to preserve the characteristics of youthful and healthy skin: suppleness, elasticity and tone. Once in the skin it attracts and holds water until the water is needed by the surrounding tissue. Since the Hyaluronic Acid molecule can expand 1,000 times its size with fluid, this creates a plumping action in the skin that gives skin its smooth, porcelain youthful look.

We would like to think that everyone makes facial serums under the strict conditions of Kauai Girl Soap & Cosmetics but unfortunately this is NOT the case, so…
- Do Your Homework. Read On to see how we make it and Google Hyaluronic Acid, how it works and what it does.
- Know how the serums you buy are made and under what conditions.
Remember this is a visco-elastic molecule that absorbs what ever it is placed in and then when applied to your skin it releases that liquid deep into the dermis layer of your skin. If HA is manufactured with impure, non pH adjusted water or other contaminated liquid, that is what it will deliver deep into your skin… I have a hard time even thinking about that… ew!
HOW WE MAKE THIS SERUM
We make all of our facial serums in our Asepsis – UVGI laboratory for your protection, security and peace of mind.
See: OUR GERMICIDAL ASEPSIS* – UVGI – MANUFACTURING PRACTICES below.
Dr. Fukaya, Japanese Dermatologist
Asako Ito, Ookuma Hospital, Nagoya, Japan
According to Dr. Fukaya, a typical over the counter lotion [serum] made with 2% strength hyaluronic acid has proven helpful for improving appearance of fine lines and wrinkles through natural hydration process of the skin. It has also proven beneficial for those withdrawing from Topical Steroidal Addiction, as a result of treatment of skin conditions like eczema with topical corticorsteroids, as well as soothing Roseacea.[1]
Where does Hyaluronic Acid come from…
HA was originally extracted from Rooster combs but is now collected as a reactive byproduct of a benign bacteria and this HA is identical in molecular structure to your skin’s natural Hyaluronic Acid.

OUR GERMICIDAL ASEPSIS* – UVGI – MANUFACTURING PRACTICES
This product, like all Kauai Girl Soap products is handmade in the Kauai Girl Soap Laboratory with the exception that this product is also Handmade at an asepsis high power ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) station. UVGI kills all microorganisms in the irradiated area and surrounding area. It is where this and other products like it are made and packaged. The UVGI process renders microorganisms dead on any surface, container and technician exposed to the high powered invisible light, as well as within a wide radius of the compounding area where ever the high powered invisible light can penetrate. It is deadly to all: Bacterium, Virii (viruses), molds and other pathogens. A small sample of the types of microorganisms killed by this process are, but not limited to: Clostridium difficile bacteria (c.diff), Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (MRSA), pneumococci (pneumonia), flu virii, Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) and more. Technicians in our facility must be gowned, masked and gloved (like a surgical room) to cover any exposed skin for their protection and make them asepsis for your protection. They must also wear protective filtered eye ware as this process can cause severe sunburn to skin or retinal damage to eyes in just minutes.
??CHECK THE COMPETITION??
Look at the competitions ingredients and their percentages of HA
(some don’t even tell you how much HA they put in because it’s so low).
Also, Some handmade soap makers who think mixing this up on their kitchen table is a good thing put very little HA in their bottle and then they may also add all other types of essential oils, chemicals, fillers and un-necessary additives to try to make up for the deficit, and if they use a preservative, it is typically a general hand cream or even a shampoo or cologne preservative.
⛔⛔⛔ NOT US ⛔⛔⛔
Sure, we’re a handmade soap maker, but we go to serious extra lengths to assure you that we’re making your Hyaluronic acid and other facial serums in an absolutely germ and contaminant free workplace, which is NOT our home but a dedicated cosmetics laboratory and as serum preservatives go…we use an expensive, all natural, hypo-allergenic cosmetic preservative created especially for facial serums.
So, if you’re thinking about buying less expensive facial products from a handmade home soapmaker, ask yourself; Are they thinking about my health and mixing their HA serum in a UVGI clean environment with filtered, purified, pH adjusted water for skin and the best hyaluronic acid and hypo-allergenic preservatives money can buy?
WE DO
Please Read On…
COMPARE, COMPARE, COMPARE…
Sure, you’re going to find cheaper products claiming to be Hyaluronic Acid but when you really and seriously look at those products, you’ll see that they are exactly that… cheap!
Do yourself a favor and buy the best; Kauai Girl Soap & Cosmetics 2% Hyaluronic Acid Long Lasting Hydration Facial Serum.
When you really compare, you will find similar products in strength and quality to ours (they are out there), but they’re also $200-$300 more per ounce.

It’s all about YOUR Safety and Protection and Peace of Mind.
—–REFERENCES—–
- Hyaluronic Acid is widely used in over counter cosmetics, serums, gels and lotions but a Japanese Dermatologist decided to study it, in depth, to see how much, if any, it really helped as a natural topical application for skin hydration. In brief:
Asako Ito, Ookuma Hospital, Nagoya, Japan has published a paper re The Effects of a Hyaluronic Acid Lotion [serum] with a Molecular Weight of around 50 – 110 kDa on the Aged Atrophic Skin.
It was published in the Journal of Cosmetics, Dermatological Sciences and Applications, 2014,4 150-14. The lotion [topical serum] used in the study was essentially the same over the counter formulation used all over the world consisting of a non-prescription strength of 2% Sodium Hyaluronate in purified and filtered water with nothing else other than preservatives.
According to Dr. Fukaya in this paper, this non-prescription strength of 2% Hyaluronic Acid lotion [topical serum] has been helpful in improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles through the natural process of skin hydration. His observations were also that this lotion [topical serum] has proven beneficial for those withdrawing from prescription Topical Steroidal Addiction, as a result of treatment of skin conditions like eczema with topical corticorsteroids, as well as soothing Roseacea.
SPECIAL NOTES:
WHILE HYALURONIC ACID IS NOT KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER it is found in higher quantities surrounding malignant tissues, mainly breast and prostate cancers. It is postulated that the body tries to surround cancerous cells with more HA possibly in an attempt to heal them but usually without success.
It is therefore a good practice to notify your doctor of your use of Hyaluronic Acid if he/she is going to perform tests for cancerous tumors. While there may be no indications while using HA, it would be better not to get a false positive and undergo the stress of hearing those results. Your doctor may also ask you to stop using HA for some time prior to cancer tests. In some cancers, hyaluronic acid levels correlate well with malignancy and poor prognosis. Hyaluronic acid is, thus, often used as a tumor marker for prostate and breast cancer and its levels may also be used to monitor the progression of the disease. Therefore, use of topical Hyaluronic Acid may have the ability to present a false positive for certain types of cancer tests.
HYALURONIC ACID is being used to fight cancer.
According to the article: “Targeting Hyaluronic Acid Family for Cancer Chemoprevention and Therapy” , HA is now being used for molecular delivery of chemotherapy drugs similar to the way it is used in cosmetics for peptide and H2O delivery. HA will absorb chemotherapy medications and deliver them to the site of action where they are released.
Sodium Hyaluronate is hypo allergenic and is NOT on the California Proposition 65 warning list however we have placed a link here for your information. California residents: Click here for more information regarding California Proposition 65.
